FTAC Mission Statement

 

 

The Forestburgh Theatre Arts Center is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation which operates the Forestburgh Playhouse.

 

As specified in the Articles of Incorporation, the mission of the Forestburgh Theatre Arts Center (FTAC) is to provide a venue for the performing arts, specifically live theatre, music, and dance, for the cultural enrichment of the people of Sullivan County.  In furtherance of this mission, the Forestburgh Theatre Arts Center shall:

1.      Operate a summer theatre in Forestburgh, NY whose principal, although not exclusive focus, will be on productions of American musical theatre;

2.      Nurture young theatrical talent by their participation in these theatrical productions;

3.      Develop and operate an educational theatre division whose principal, although not exclusive focus, will be to develop a relationship with local elementary and secondary schools in Sullivan and nearby counties for the purpose of exposing the students to live theatre and related performing arts;

4.      Develop a facility where playwrights, composers, directors, and choreographers can explore new work without overwhelming commercial pressure.

An unpaid Board of Trustees oversees the Forestburgh Theatre Arts Center.  FTAC is proud to list the following distinguished individuals as members of our Board:

  • Stuart Salenger, President, is a current Forestburgh resident with a long family history in Sullivan County, and is a self-employed businessman, farmer, and philanthropist.  He has been active as a major donor and supporter of the Playhouse since 2005.

  • Ron Nash, Treasurer and Artistic Director.  Mr. Nash’s bio appears on the Management Staff Page of the web site.  He receives no payment for his work as Artistic Director.  He is self-employed.

  • Roberta Byron-Lockwood, Secretary, is employed as the President and CEO of Sullivan County Visitors Association, the local convention and visitors bureau.

  • Steve Davis is the Senior Manager for Quality Systems for CorePharma LLC, a major international pharmaceutical corporation headquartered in New Jersey. 

  • Fran Fanslau is a pre-school educator from Rock Hill, New York

  • Maurice Gerry is retired from business; he serves as a councilman for the Town of Liberty.

  • Anna Milucky is a vice president at the First National Bank of Jeffersonville.

  • Guy Spradling is the CEO/Vice President of Edsall Insurance Services in McAfee, New Jersey, and is the owner of the Spradling Dance Studio in Montague, New Jersey.

  • Fred Stabbert III is the owner and publisher of Catskill Delaware Publications, publisher of the Sullivan County Democrat.

  • Our Distinguished Board of Advisors includes a number of local leaders and international celebrities including:  Ed Asner, Tony Cellini (Town of Thompson Supervisor), Carol Channing, James Galligan (Town of Forestburgh Supervisor), Lee Roy Reams, Jean Stapleton, Loretta Swit.

All donations to the Forestburgh Theatre Arts Center are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law, and are used to help fulfill our mission.
