OPEN POSITIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTIONS
2026 SEASON AT FORESTBURGH PLAYHOUSE


Employment Dates are approximately June 1-Sept. 13. However, Dates are subject to change/vary in regards to Employee’s availability, school schedule and/or assigned productions.

The Playhouse can be flexible with employment dates!

 Salaries listed are an approximation based on previous hiring practices and subject to change according to the candidate’s experience, interview performance and recommendations.

All jobs listed below are considered to be Seasonal Team Members and will receive housing, meals, and a transportation stipend for travel to and from the Playhouse for the contract period.

 

Production Manager 

$600/week

Duties shall include, but are not limited to: coordinating with Stage Management team, Creative Teams, Department Heads, and Producer to facilitate production of mainstage performances; organizing, tabulating, and maintaining production budgets; coordinating with departments and creative teams regarding changeover and technical rehearsals as well as attendance at technical rehearsals; general problem solving in preparation of productions. 

Company Manager:

$500-$600/week

Duties shall include, but are not limited to: Deep cleaning all housing and set up for Company arrival, managing all housing including cleaning of linens and rooms as well as distribution of chores for each house and weekly housing check-in. Coordinate housing and room assignments and transportation for the company. Troubleshoot most personnel and human resource matters and come up with helpful solutions. Daily office clerical duties and Assisting with: marketing promotion and social media content, house manager duties when applicable, and the Producing team with the day-to-day management of the Playhouse. 

Assistant Company Manager:

$425-$525/week

Duties shall include, but are not limited to: Assist Company Manager and management teams with daily tasks including arrivals, departures, and transportation, cleaning and organizing housing, check-in on housing for chores completion, marketing promotion and social media content, and house manager duties.  ACM shall also work on day to day clerical tasks to assist with running of the management offices.  

Assistant to the Producer:

$425-$525/week

Duties shall include, but are not limited to Assisting Producer with payroll, contract work, office and clerical work, house management, marketing, coordination with Production Manager/Company Manager and technical departments, community outreach, communications, fundraising efforts and volunteer management.  Assistant will also work on tasks related to show licenses, Playbill program, and union documents and reports (Actors’ Equity, SDC, USA).  Assistant shall receive on the job training for the afore-referenced items.

 

Production Stage Manager:

Actors’ Equity Contract: $675/week, health and pension payments made to AEA

Production Stage Manager for: Murder for Two, The Bridges of Madison County, Dear Evan Hansen, Hairspray, Million Dollar Quartet, Come from Away and Once.. Other duties will include, but not be limited to paperwork related to the productions, running rehearsals and production meetings, supervise Assistant Stage Manager and Second Assistant Stage Manager. 

Assistant Stage Manager:

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assist Stage Management Team with stage management duties related to rehearsals and mainstage productions. Such duties will include but not be limited to production paperwork, rehearsal assistance, and backstage assistance as well as serving as the Production Stage Manager of the TYA Production (Wizard of Oz  TYA)

Second Assistant Stage Manager: 

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assist Stage Management Team with stage management duties related to rehearsals and mainstage productions.  Such duties will include, but not be limited to paperwork related to the productions, rehearsal assistance, and backstage assistance.  Will serve as First ASM for Wizard of Oz TYA.

Technical Director: 

$550-$625/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Supervising and executing the build of all pertinent mainstage productions and cabaret productions when necessary; Drafting build documents, creating detailed build schedules, and coordinating with the Production Manager, PSM, Director and Producer regarding all aspects of the set build; Running change-over and helping coordinate technical rehearsal; Coordinating and assisting with Playhouse setup and Playhouse maintenance as needed. 

Assistant Technical Director: 

$450-$550/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assisting the Technical Director with supervising and executing the build of all pertinent mainstage productions and cabaret productions when necessary; Drafting build documents, creating detailed build schedule, and coordinating with the Production Manager, PSM, and Director and Producer regarding all aspects of the set build; help coordinate technical rehearsal; Coordinating and assisting with Playhouse setup and Playhouse maintenance as needed. 

Scenic Designer: · 

Fee info upon request

Design, build, and paint the set for a specific show, prepare drafts and designs for the Technical Director and Director of the show.Will be present on property throughout the rehearsal process and provide guidance to scenic team, attend rehearsals when necessary, participate in change over as needed, attend technical rehearsal, final dress and provide guidance until opening night performance. 

Scenic Carpenter: ·

$450/week   

Duties include, but are not limited to: Executing the build of all pertinent mainstage productions and cabaret productions when necessary; Working change-over and technical rehearsal; running shows in various capacities according to the need of the particular show; Assisting with Playhouse setup and Playhouse maintenance as needed. 

Lead  Electrician/Assistant Lighting Designer

$475-$500/ week plus stipend for any lighting designs provided to Playhouse

Duties include, but are not limited to: Supervise the order, pick up, and load-in of season lighting rental; Design and run TYA production and Cabarets at the Forestburgh Tavern, when applicable; Assist Lighting Designers with all mainstage productions; Supervise and run the load-in and load-out of each show's physical production; Assist in Playhouse maintenance when necessary. Supervise and delegate tasks to Assistant Master Electrician during the summer season. Spot operation, as needed for productions.

Assistant Electrician

$450/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assist Lead Electrician for the 2026 Summer Season.  Duties include, but are not limited to assisting with load-in of season lighting rental; Run Cabarets at the Forestburgh Tavern, when applicable; Assist Lighting Designers with all mainstage productions; load-in and load-out of each show's physical production; Assisting in Playhouse maintenance when necessary. Spot operation, as needed for productions. 

Sound Designer

$700/design and additional fees for season setup- info available upon request

Sound set up in Playhouse and Tavern; Design Mainstage shows including Murder for Two, The Bridges of Madison County, Dear Evan Hansen, Hairspray, Million Dollar Quartet, Come from Away, and Once. Will delegate and supervise A1 and A2. Will attend production meetings, and rehearsals prior to tech rehearsal, tech rehearsal, final dress rehearsal and the opening performance. Will provide remote consultation to resident sound team throughout the season when necessary.

A1

$475/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assist Sound Designer, Supervise the order, pick up, and load-in of season, Mix all mainstage productions, Design, and mix TYA Production and Cabarets in the Forestburgh Tavern, as well as any special events at the Playhouse or Tavern or off-property; maintain sound equipment and other Playhouse maintenance when necessary. Supervise and delegate tasks to A2 in accordance with any instructions from the Sound Designer. 

A2

$450/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assist Sound Designer and A1 with the design and implementation of mainstage productions, TYA Production, cabarets, and any special events at the Playhouse or Tavern or off-property; maintenance of sound equipment and other Playhouse maintenance when necessary. Work backstage during productions, assist actors with microphones, and troubleshoot sound issues when applicable.

Costume Shop Manager/Assistant Costume Designer

$475-$500/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assist Costume Designer/s with design of mainstage productions and TYA Production. Will assist with pull from rental house or stock, build and implement costume designs for season productions, supervise costume shop in the absence of costume designer, act as wardrobe crew for mainstage productions when necessary, and assist with day-to-day duties as essential in the costume shop and for Playhouse. Maintain Budget for the season and each individual production. Responsible for the return of all items pulled from the rental house. Design opportunities available. 

Wardrobe Supervisor

$450/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Participate in backstage running crew for each show, oversee laundry duties, assist the designer with the construction of costumes, maintain costumes for each show, keep stock in order and perform other duties as necessary for running of the costume shop and any other deemed necessary by Costume Designer/Assistant Costume Designer and Administrative Staff.  Will assist Costume Shop Manager with the return of items from rental house and maintaining budgets for each individual production. 

Stitcher

$450/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assist Costume Designer and Wardrobe Supervisor in building and implementing costume designs for productions, act as running crew for mainstage and children’s show productions, and assist with day-to-day duties as necessary in the costume shop and for the Playhouse.  Stitcher should be a skilled machine and hand sewer.

Music Director

$500-$600/week

Act as Musical Director and conductor and rehearsal accompanist for two or three mainstage musicals, play second keyboard and assist with rehearsals for the musicals where not acting as Musical Director. Music Director will also be assigned to music direct and play cabarets during the season.  These assignments will be finalized when the music team meets to discuss the schedule, feasibility and best placement for scheduling purposes.  The two season Music Directors will supervise and delegate tasks to the Associate Music Director and will assist Producer with finding and hiring instrumentalists as needed throughout the season.  Music Directors will be responsible for creating arrangements, programming and book condensations where needed/applicable.

Associate Music Director:

$475/week

Duties included, but are not limited to: Assist Music Directors with mainstage productions, which includes, but is not limited to: arrangement and orchestration work, accompanying rehearsals, book condensations,  performing on keys for productions, when applicable; assisting Music Directors with cabarets (and Music Directing where assigned). Music Direct Wizard of Oz TYA.  All assignments will be finalized when the music team meets to discuss schedule, feasibility and best placement for scheduling purposes.
