Sullivan County is fortunate to have a very active arts community, and the largest source of arts information in the county comes from the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance web site.  Check out their information on music, dance, and visual arts.

A new major performing arts venue opened in the summer of 2006 at the site of the original Woodstock rock concert in Bethel, New York.  For a performance schedule, visit the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center.

Other professional musical venues in the summer include The Week of Chamber Music and The Shandelee Music Festival.  Check out their web sites for their schedules of classical and not-so classical music.

Are you more the outdoors type?  One of the Eastern Seaboard's principal nesting areas for the American Bald Eagle (our country's official bird) is just one mile from the Forestburgh Playhouse.  The Eagle Institute has lots of information about viewing these majestic birds.  If your interest lies more in fish than birds, the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum in located just 20 miles from the Playhouse near Roscoe, NY, near the site of our world class trout streams.

Finally, a few extra special Forestburgh Playhouse recommendations...
  • This August, be sure to be part of the Monticello Bagel Festival - the first and only celebration of one of the signature foods of the Catskills!

  • One B&B that is close by in Forestburgh is the Inn at Lake Joseph, a wonderful old summer mansion filled with beautiful antiques... and another is the glorious ECCE B&B in Barryville.
