For decades, the Forestburgh Playhouse Gardens have enchanted visitors. Each summer, patrons wander through our Garden enjoying the wide variety and incredible beauty of our flowers. Over the past couple of years, we have expanded the gardens and have also constructed a beautiful patio so that all can enjoy our stunning Catskills’ weather in the Garden...
To further enhance the experience of the Playhouse Gardens, we are thrilled to unveil our Forestburgh Playhouse Garden Walkway Fundraiser. To make it easier to traverse and enjoy the Playhouse, we will be installing the Garden Walkway. The Garden Walkway will become a meandering path, made from natural beautiful stones and will connect various points of the Garden, the Patio, and the decks of the Playhouse and Tavern.
This Walkway will not only enhance the Playhouse experience, it also serves as a crucial fundraiser as the Playhouse reaches an important crossroads.
Due to the increase in development in Sullivan County, housing stock has become more and more difficult to obtain and more expensive as demand increases. The spike in rental costs has taken a heavy toll on the Playhouse. This summer alone, the rental costs have increased to upwards of $40,000 per summer. The Playhouse houses over 100 actors, directors, designers, and technicians throughout the summer. In order to attract the best talent, the Playhouse strives to provide high-quality, comfortable housing.
The time has come to address this serious issue and acquire housing for the Playhouse. This Garden Walkway Fundraiser is a wonderful way to support the Playhouse’s efforts and raise funds towards the acquisition of housing, necessary capital improvements, and the overall improvement of our theatrical product.
For either $199 or $250, a donor to this fundraiser will purchase a small or large stone for the Walkway. We will have that stone engraved with loved ones names, company names, or whomever the donor would like to dedicate the stone to. Donating to this fundraiser will not only further beautify the Playhouse, but will also help the Playhouse reach several critical goals and continue to present top-notch, professional theatre in the Catskills.
