Supporting the Playhouse’s 75th Anniversary in 2021

The Forestburgh Playhouse has been in operation for almost 75 years. In that time, plays, productions, and performances have entertained audiences from the Sullivan Catskills region and beyond. But the current restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic have made live performances almost impossible. This has put the Playhouse in tremendous financial peril.

How can you help?  Donate to 75 and Thrive. We created this campaign to help us reach our 75th year of operation. If you’ve been entertained by the Forestburgh Playhouse and don’t want to see it close, please consider making a financial gift to help us reach our 75th anniversary in 2021.

What Exactly Will Your Donation Support in 2021?

When you make a donation to help keep Forestburgh Playhouse thriving, you are supporting the following (under normal operation):

  • Productions. The Playhouse puts on a variety of shows and productions throughout the year, and ticket sales are one of the main sources of income. There is usually a summer series consisting of Broadway musicals and plays on the main stage. A fall and spring series takes place in the Forestburgh Tavern comprised of local musicians, comedians, cabaret acts, and more. There’s always something going on for your entertainment.

  • Education. The Forestburgh Playhouse offers theater camps and workshops for the local youth. These educational programs culminate in performances, sometimes original productions, put on by the participants. Our educational programs are another significant part of our income. With the summer theatre initiatives having been canceled in 2020 and other educational programs temporarily suspended due to the pandemic, we have experienced a debilitating loss of income. We also miss the amazing theatrical experiences we have with young budding actors.

  • Careers. The Playhouse employs professional actors as part of the Actors Equity Association, a union of professional actors and stage managers. In order to continue to employ these amazing actors with Broadway experience and other credits, we must help the Playhouse survive this difficult time. Without these professionals, we could not put on the same caliber of productions we have in the past.

  • Local economy. When you donate to 75 and Thrive for the Forestburgh Playhouse, you are helping to support your local economy. As you well know, local small businesses have taken the biggest economic hit by the restrictions put in place in attempts to curb the pandemic. Arts and Entertainment venues have been particularly affected, followed by the restaurant and bar industry of which the Tavern is also a part. Help shape the future of your community.

What to Expect from the Forestburgh Playhouse in 2021

If you’re a patron of the Forestburgh Playhouse, we hope to be able to resume many of our productions and programs in 2021. Much of that hinges on many factors regarding the pandemic and our ability to raise the funds we need to keep going.

Have you sat in the audience during one of our fabulous productions and laughed, cried, or simply enjoyed yourself? Have you listened to music and enjoyed delicious food and drink at the Tavern? If you want those experiences to continue in 2021, we need your help.

We hope to see you in 2021 for a full, fabulous season!
